Have you ever tried to write romantic love letters? If no then you really should. It may seem a very tough process to begin but believe me it’s worth the benefits. For years people have been using romantic love letters to show their love to someone meaningful to them. Only recently in the last few years have they started to become less common due to the technological advancements in the world today like emails and texts. However I believe there’s still a place for love letters, not only do i think that there’s still a place for them I believe they are still more effective than many things today. Here’s why and what benefits I think they offer:
1) More romantic - It shows that the person giving the love letter has taken the time to sit down and write it instead of sending a text message or email which shows a more thoughtful caring side.
2) Very personal - Romantic love letters allow you to be a lot more personal as you can write in a much more intimate way and allows for you to read it in the comfort of your own company. A love letter is a special connection between yourself and the person you love that no-one else can see.
3) Can be kept hold of - Writing romantic love letters isn’t like a text or email which over time will eventually be erased. Love letters can be held onto and cherished forever and can be looked back on for years to come.
4) Hidden identity - One of the biggest benefits of writing love letters is that your identity can be completely hidden, you don’t have to tell the person you are writing to who it is. This is so you could see how they would react to getting a letter. You could even have some fun by dropping subtle hints in.
5) Privacy - When writing a love letter no-one has to know what you have written in the letter unless you want to tell them. The content of love letters remains secret between the holder and the writer.
6) Secret message - Within the letter you can put in secret messages such as one which spells out ‘will you marry me’. This would make for an unexpected surprise.
These are some of the many benefits of giving romantic love letters, so the next time your thinking about sending a special text or doing something romantic, pick up a pen and write a love letter!
My point is, your significant other is going to expect you to be a little bit creative on February 14th – especially if you’ve been together for a few years or more. But if you ignore it, you’re in trouble. Here are some creative ideas for doing something a little different on Valentine’s Day gifts.
1. The Romantic Memory Tour
If you get to spend the entire day together, take advantage of the opportunity and relive the story of your love. Go back to the place you first met. Do things you used to do when you were younger. Rent the first movie you went to together. Eat at the greasy diner you haven’t been to in years.
Nothing brings out those warm fuzzies like a little bit of nostalgia. It might be even more fun to make it a little mysterious. Design a “treasure map,” or write a list of clues and turn the tour into a scavenger hunt. Just make sure you have a grand finale to finish things off. The bedroom always works for guys.
2. The Lovey-Dovey IOU Booklet
This is an excellent way to make the romance of Valentine’s Day last a lot longer. Put together a collection of IOUs for your lover. A bunch of them is better than just one, so think about things he or she would really appreciate and enjoy. Include the standards like back massages and passionate pleasures. But make sure to throw in a few other things too: a favorite meal, a night away from the kids, or just a big hug.
3. The “Story of Us” Book
This is another great way to take a romantic walk down memory lane. Make your own book featuring pictures of the two of you together and stories from your time together. If you’re into scrapbooking, you can include all sorts of interesting stuff.
If you’re not so crafty, there are other options. There are some cute books you can customize and personalize online. Books start at around $30, although these consist pre-made illustrations. For books featuring your own photos, give Blurb.com a try.
You could also make your own video slideshow if you’ve got some basic editing skills. Put it on YouTube and send it to your loved one. Some people – especially women – really appreciate those public declarations of love.
4. The Couple’s Caricature
If the two of you share a wacky sense of humor – a custom-made caricature could be fun. Maybe you know of a place where you can sit for a caricature artist. If not, there are plenty of places online where you can send in a photo and have an artist send it back.
5. Hire a Personal Chef for the Evening
Turn your kitchen into a fancy, five-star restaurant for a delicious dinner and an enchanting evening in the comfort of your own home.
You could simply find a friend or family member with exceptional cooking skills and have them do the job. However, I would not recommend bringing in either of your mothers to do this. Let’s be honest – things could get awkward very quickly. Plus, you get to eat Mom’s food all the time. This should be special. If there’s a culinary school nearby, see if you can hire an up-and-coming chef to make you a romantic meal in the privacy of your own home.
We know that February has been celebrated as the day of the month of romance, and Valentine’s Day as we know it today, contains vestiges of Christian and ancient Roman tradition. But those who, blessed are they who have reached the ancient rite of Valentine in what manner?
The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. Priest Valentine play in the third century, the Roman soldiers. When the Emperor Claudius, single men made better soldiers than those who have determined that they 2 with wives and families, outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young people in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered his execution.
Some suggest that Valentine would have to be killed for attempting to help Christians escape harsh Roman prisons where they were often beaten and tortured. According to legend, Valentine actually sent the first prisoner of ‘Valentine greeting after he fell in love with a young woman – and possibly his jailer’s daughter – who visited him during his confinement. Before his death, he is said to be wrote a letter signed “Your Valentine” signifies that it is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is unclear, all the stories emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic – the romantic figure – the most important thing. In the Middle Ages, the story perhaps Valentine Feasts of the Saints in the future of England.
Some think of the day of February is celebrated amid the celebration of the anniversary of Valentine’s death or burial Valentine – among which was in the year of our Lord one thousand or 270 – Other, say created the Church Christ in the Feast of S. The tradition of using poetry to woo a prospective romantic partner, or to demonstrate affection for a current lover goes back to the ancients. It is a great way for modern partnerships to sustain themselves when the couple is apart, or to show tenderness on special occasions such as birthdays, anniversaries, or Valentine’s day, or as a way of keeping the flame of love burning.
A love poem, more than many other styles, should have passion and a degree of directness. In my experience, an amateur poem from the heart which is personal in nature will often have more power than a well-crafted poem that lacks emotion in this genre, so don’t feel too self-conscious about the technical quality when writing a love poem, even if you are only a poetry beginner. This advice is especially valid if the poem is intended for private, rather than a public reading.
There are numerous structures for a love poem that you could use. If you are writing a rhyming poem, then you will have to decide upon the rhyming scheme that you wish to employ and structure your poem very strictly. There are numerous traditional forms that you can use for a love poem, one example being a sonnet. Another simple structure is to write in a rhyming couplets – this is often how many people will attempt to write a poem, but it can be difficult to find rhymes that don’t sound contrived, or overused. If you are unsure about which approach to take, I personally would recommend trying to write a love poem that is loose in structure and doesn’t rhyme.
Here are some suggestions for how to begin writing your love poem. As with all creative writing, it is best not to allow yourself to become self-conscious when you start writing, just put down as many words as you can to begin with – this will just be a first draft that no one besides yourself will see, you can come back to your writer later and improve it.
Write a description of your loved one. You can write it as a ordinary prose if you want. Think of attributes such as eyes? Hair? Lips? How they laugh? And other characteristics? Write about how your loved one makes you feel – does your heart skip a beat? Do they make you feel nervous? Excited? Warm? Comfortable?
Once you have written down at least a few hundred words, you will need to do some editing – what that means essentially, is picking out the best bits and rejecting the worst. If you have time to spare, it is best to leave the poem for at least a few days, preferably longer, between your first draft and editing – that way you come back to it with a fresh eye, but it is not essential.
Other edits you might want to consider, other than just deleting the weak lines, are to strengthen the verbs that you use, and also to keep the descriptive words (adjectives and adverbs) to the minimum that you can get away with. Sometimes it also makes the poem better if you choose an over-arching theme or metaphor that you can fasten the poem around. Natural themes, such as the sea, clouds, mountains, trees, flowers, can work well with love poems.
Next you will need to decide to put the line breaks in your poem. One easy method of doing this is to read your poem aloud (reading aloud is good practice for editing too!) and put the breaks where you naturally tend to pause.
Do you know the world-famous brand “Victoria’s secret”? And have you ever heard some romantic love stories about “Victoria’s secret”? Here I am willing to tell you one of the love stories, sincerely hope you would like it.
It was 1978 when the love story began. Greece, an attractive girl from England, found that a boy was always observing her and writing something on a piece of paper when she was on holiday in a Los Angelus beach.
Curiously and a little bit angrily, she went to the boy, who was just on his way to start his new small bra store, and was attracted by her beautiful swimsuit. What Roy was doing was painting, and he told Greece about his name and job, while Greece lied to him. She said that her name was Victoria. When Roy asked where her swimsuit was bought, she said, “It’s a secret.” Roy immediately decided to let his store name after this girl——Victoria’s secret. Form that moment on, they spend their holiday together.
In fact, Greece had had a fiancé already, which was arranged by her parents. She knew she loved Roy, but no matter what she said, she still couldn’t persuade her parents on this issue. Greece had no choices; she had to return to England and told Roy about all her realistic things. Roy wrote lots of letters to Greece. But all the letters were stopped by Greece’s father. Roy made Victoria’s secret a good company in a few years.
Greece couldn’t help to missing Roy. Finally in the year 1983, she divorced with her husband and went to the U.S to find Roy, but failed. She joined the team and worked in Victoria’s company as a saleswoman. Three years later she was appointed as manager and the chairman of the board, and in 1991, Victoria’s secret became one of the top ten companies around the world.
Once after a TV show, she received a bag in which there was a swimsuit with the name Victoria’s secret. She found the address and shocked. It was Roy’s mother who sent that to her. But Roy broke both his legs after a terrible car accident occurred, and later passed away. The swimsuit spent Roy several days before he died.
